The present organ, standing impressively in William Hill’s imposing case of 1908, was rebuilt in 1971 by J.Walker & Sons, as a three-manual organ of thirty-two speaking stops. One of the few organs in Ireland with a 32ft pedal stop, it is much admired for its warmth of tone and versatility of character. Although primarily used to enhance the daily liturgies of the Cathedral, this organ is one of Dublin’s main recital instruments on which many internationally eminent players have performed.
